OUR SCHOOL is one of the Educational Institutions founded by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres in the Philippines. The Paulinian Religious Community, founded in Chartres, France, has its genera late in Rome.

SCHOOL SEAL

The school seal is the crown of laurel and lighted lamp. The laurel leaves symbolize the glory God gives to those who use intellectual achievements, not for their personal glory and interest, but for the glory of God and service of mankind. The lighted lamp stands for the Christian’s missionary role to light the world with the light of Christ. “You are the light…your light must shine at the sight of men, so that, seeing your good works, they may give praise to your Father in heaven.” (Mt. 5:14-16)

MOTTO

The school motto is “Caritas Christi Urget Nos”THE CHARITY OF CHRIST URGES US (2 Cor. 5:14). After the example of St. Paul, spurred on by the love of Christ, countless Sisters of St. Paul, full of zeal and fervor, crossed vast waters to establish St. Paul schools and pastoral health service institutions all over the world. Let every Paulinian aspire to live this charity of Christ.

COLORS

The colors are green and gold. Green is for the hope that all creation retains the hope of being freed from slavery, the hope to enjoy the freedom and the glory of the children of God (Rom. 8:21-22). Gold is for the glory that God has promised to His children and heirs “and we are children, we are heirs as well; heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, sharing His suffering so as to share His Glory.” (Rom. 8:17).

PHILOSOPHY

SPUSM treasures its Catholic tradition of humanistic learning based on the Gospel values. Sharing in the mission of the Catholic Church, to proclaim Christ as the Good News to all, SPUSM serves, with conscious preference for the deprived, in the contemporary and future needs of the church, the nation and the world. It is on the basis of these principles and values that SPUSM provides its quality Catholic Paulinian education in a Christ-centered way. Our goal then, is the total formation of a person who “walks in the truth” (veritas). Thus, veritas encourages this search for knowledge (scientia) which impels us to love (caritas).
